A view of Dzogchen Monastery India

Those monks not enrolled for philosophical studies in the shedra, form a group known as the dratsang. Although they attend Tibetan grammar and English classes, their focus is on training in ritual and prayer. They are well versed in many complex and lengthy practices and skilled in the use of ritual musical instruments.

Morning practice includes prayers to Guru Rinpoche and the sadhana of Könchok Chidü, and in the evening, Dzogchen protectors practice. On the 10th and 25th days of the Tibetan month a full day of Tsok is celebrated. Throughout the year various other special ceremonies are accomplished, including the accumulation of 100,000 Tsok offerings over five days. The dratsang also serve the local community by visiting homes to perform prayer and recitations, especially for the dead and those that are sick.
