Kushok Gemong Rinpoches

 


The current
Kushok Gemong Rinpoche,
Jigme Kunsang Pema Wangchen

Gyalse Shenpen Thaye (b. 1800), who during the early nineteenth century founded the Shri Singha monastic university at Dzogchen Monastery under the guidance of the fourth Dzogchen Rinpoche, was the first Kushok Gemong Rinpoche. He was a celebrated scholar and one of the main disciples of the first Dodrupchen. The current Kushok Gemong Rinpoche lives in India.

The Kushok Gemong incarnations are

  1. Gyalsey Shenpen Thaye (1800-?)
  2. Thubwang Tenpe Nyima (who spent his entire life in strict retreat at Shri Singha, the location of the Kushok Gemang Rinpoche labrang,1 giving transmissions and teachings to students through a curtain during breaks in his retreat)
  3. ?
  4. Jigme Kunsang Pema Wangchen (presently living in India)
