Pema Gyalpo, one of the Eight Manifestations of Guru Rinpoche

Dzogchen Monastery
is one of the Six Great Seats of the Nyingma, which consist of:

Central Tibet:
     1) Ugyen Mindrol Ling, founded in 1676;
     2) Thubten Dorje Drak, founded in 1632;

Eastern Tibet:
     3) Dzogchen Ugyen Samten Choling,
         founded in 1685;
     4) Shechen Tennyi Dhargye Ling, founded
         in 1735;

Lower Eastern Tibet:
     5) Kathok Dorje Den, founded in 1159;
     6) Palyul Namgyal Jangchub Ling, founded
         in 1665.

Other historically important seats
     * Samye
     * Palri Thekchok Ling

These six major seats have for centuries been the most important institutions in Tibet for the studies and practices through which the Nyingma lineage has been continued until the present day.
