Other Stories

The record of much of Dzogchen Monastery is contained in oral histories which have taken the form of stories passed down over the years. These stories are scattered among many different persons and have not yet been collected and preserved in a rigorous manner. However, with this section of the site we hope to begin to provide a place where we can collect these stories, or at least encourage others to begin to collect them.

Monks at Shri Singha shedra. Because of the widespread loss of the libraries and written historical records of Dzogchen Monasteries, the oral histories of the Dzogchen lamas are now almost all that remain of the historic stories of Dzogchen, and the monks of Dzogchen are the repositories of this history

This section will be continuously updated as we discover new information. For now, we have a couple of tales to tantalize you, and suggest ways in which others may participate in the historical record-keeping process based on oral histories.
