Padmasambhava, one of the Eight Great Manifestations

For centuries, Dzogchen Monastery has been a home for many eminent Buddhist teachers.

Traditionally, three Abbots have  shared responsibility for Dzogchen Monastery. The positions of Abbots have been filled by members of the following three reincarnate teacher lineages:

  • the Dzogchen Rinpoche line,
  • the Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche line,
  • and the Kushok Geymong Rinpoche line.

There have also been a number of other tulkus, or reincarnate teaching masters, who have held important offices at the Monastery. Their guidance and support has been critical to the Monastery's well-being over the centuries.

Dzogchen has been also been the home of legendary Khenpos and Yogis, as well as the home of other teachers, whose stories endure to this day.
