Tulku Kasang

The first Tulku Kasang Rinpoche, Dzogchen Khenpo Pema Dorje (circa nineteenth century) was known as a great master in both the sutra and tantra traditions. His teachers included Gyalse Shenphen Thaye, the fourth Dzogchen Rinpoche, Khenchen Sengtruk Pema Tashi, and Paltrul Rinpoche. He received the Longchen Nyingthik transmissions from Jigme Gyalwe Nyuku (1765-1843), the fourth Dzogchen Rinpoche, Khyentse Yeshe Dorje, and Gyalse Shenphen Thaye. He is the author of the Nyingme Gal-len Rigpe Kyareng and An Instruction on the Recitation of Avalokiteshvara of Longchen Nyingthik.

The second Tulku Kasang was named Choktrul Dega Rinpoche.

The third Tulku Kasang has been a monumental figure in the recent history of Dzogchen Monastery. He has dedicated himself to the restoration of Dzogchen, and has taken overall responsibility for rebuilding and guiding the Shri Singha shedra. An exceptionally learned and skilled master, he has worked closely with Tulku Drukpa Kuchung and Kunsang Tulku, to begin rebuilding the Dzogchen monastic institution in the twentieth century.
